For travellers who want to get off the beaten track, Kengtung in eastern Shan State is the perfect destination. Located on the edge of the famous Golden Triangle region, the town teems with genuine local atmosphere and is the ideal base of operations from which to explore rarely visited ethnic villages in the surrounding hills.
